This is why biologists rely on sterile culture technique.

A laminar flow hood is an air filtration device, widely used throughout the biological sciences, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, nuclear technology and manufacturing. Flow hoods create a sterile working environment for sensitive tasks, such as the isolation and propagation of fungi, plants, bacteria and other microorganisms.

Until now, access to this technology has been limited to institutions, professionals and a few intrepid do-it-yourself-ers.
